Four different species of bats observed in our neighborhood’s Bat Walk & Talk

The four species of bats observed were:

Canyon bat (Pipistrellus hesperus) – photo attached

Mexican free tail bat (Tadarida brasiliensis)

Arizona myotis (Myotis occultus)

Western red bat (Lasirurs blossevillii)

If you would like to help support these wonderful critters…

Plant Tucson Basin native pollinator- and other insect-attracting plants

and

Reduce or eliminate light pollution

A cool tool for tracking bats with your phone (its what we used on the Walk & Talk):
Echo Meter Touch 2

Thanks to Kathy Gerst (formerly with Bat Conservation International) for leading the walk and talk,
and the 20+ neighbors and friends that came out for the event!
