DESCRIPTION:WHEN: Meet 5:30am. Finish by 9am \nWHERE: We meet at 813 N. 9th Ave to gather tools\, then we walk to that morning’s work site(s) \n\n\n\nWork can vary from pruning to weeding to seeding to creating water-harvesting earthworks to planting native plants to picking up garbage. Varies from week to week. \n\n\n\nFocus is to work and get things done. This is hands-on work. We’ll teach you techniques if you don’t know them. Then you can teach others as you gain knowledge and experience. \n\n\n\nBring water. \n\n\n\nNOTE: Sunday\, August 16\, we will plant native trees along the public right-of-way on the west side of Stone Ave between University Blvd and 4th Street. I have gotten City approval to do this work since all but one of the non-native oak trees they planted in this section have died\, yet the drip irrigation system continues to water the now bare dirt where the dead oak trees once were. The native trees we plant will be far hardier than the non-native oak trees\, while producing food and shelter for people and wildlife.
